WSMC 2025 Table Top Exercise: Save the Date

Here at WSMC, we are already gearing up for our 2025 Table Top Exercise, marking the third year of our triangle cycle. In 2024, we successfully conducted our Worst-Case Scenario Exercise, achieving all necessary exercise credits and leaving no gaps in our preparedness matrix. 

This success gives us the flexibility to tackle more complex scenarios during a non-credit year, allowing us to focus on high-risk, emerging challenges. One of these challenges is shipboard fires, which have been a growing concern in recent years. WSMC has firsthand experience, having been involved in two shipboard fire responses. The tragic loss of firefighters aboard the Grande Costa d’Avorio in July 2023 in Newark, New Jersey, underscores the critical need for additional training and preparedness for such incidents. 

For 2025, we are exploring a shipboard fire scenario in the Port of Seattle and have begun discussions with Seattle Fire Department to partner in planning this exercise. The date for this exercise has been set for June 4, 2025.
